Smokey Wednesday

I'm ready to go to bed. The long day is finally over. Wednesdays are so busy, and this morning started unloading the pickup and ended with driving home a load of boys. I still feel like there's something I missed, and it's nagging at me. But I can't think of it.
I decided to take vacation next week. I need it. I'm not doing as well as I need to at work and can't seem to find motivation where it once was. Maybe it's just spring fever that seems to be inhabiting everyone else I know? Maybe I finally caught it?
The bulldozer is quiet tonight. The whole valley was covered in thick smoke from the three smoldering slash piles on the property south of me. If it's bad again tomorrow I call the fire department and file a complaint. Legally they have to put it out or face fines. Burning is a priviledge, not a right. Yesterday it was thicker than fog and it was spooking the animals and making them afraid. It's just not ok. It's frustrating to see that kind of total disregard for neighbors and their animals. When we burn we make sure it doesn't blow on someone elses property, and we never burn piles big enough to require permits. Come to think of it, I should check on that too. Permits and law. Civilization does have it's price, and it's protections.

Hope your day is good, and your air is clean. Mine will be.
All for now,
B
